Recognizing the Role of Social Media
How do these platforms govern the popular global group mind?
After a conscious choice to work the algorithm and deliberately participate in social media in order to raise a profile (yes, I don't actually enjoy putting up this many pictures and videos of myself - would you believe it?! 😜).
I have discovered through research, speaking with professionals and in the desire to approach this whole thing professionally that mainstream social media already acts as a social credit system behind the scenes that I never consented to.
On these platforms people are grouped in networks - these networks and the individuals within them have their own personal AI algorithms. There is higher value with more exposure of posts on people that participate in acceptable community activities and people who promote acceptable practices according to social and political agendas that no one consciously agreed to - this is done by filtering and distorting news feeds which decides what you see.
Just because you have followers doesn't mean that a post will always appear on their feeds every time you post it - there are layers of shadow banning and censorship that are ideologically dependent and location dependent.
For many people, they won't see a problem with it. This kind of thing has been going on for years now and many people when confronted with this just accept it as part of normal life and as necessary considering all the things they have been taught 'could go wrong'.
The idea you can post something and actually have it seen by every friend or followers (even if they are 'following you') or have the possibility of winning the viral lottery just by making engaging content is now a thing of the past - everything is vetted by an AI algorithm and gains a certain amount of traction on feeds based on the user's value in this algorithm.
If you however, are promoting something within an accepted or promoted agenda your post will receive more exposure. Censorship, soft-censorship and shadow-banning is normally done without a user's direct knowledge or consent.
By still believing that social media has the capacity to represent people equally to give all people a voice and by still engaging in it - is actually a subtle and demeaning form of mind control which directs the group to think in certain lines which controls society and its trends as a whole as result. Having been through times in life of being gaslit by abusers - I can directly identify social media and its shadow practices as abusive - it promises exposure through promoting a free and open platform and yet puts a value number on you in the background; placing you in a social hierarchy without your consent. It then exposes your content according to this value and sorts its priority accordingly. What it claims to do as an open and free social media platform and what it actually does are two different things.
To not think this is a problem - effectively a shadow social credit system that you didn't vote for or consent to - is evident of how deep we are in.
If you want to play the game. Do the following:
- Don't post things like this for a start - nothing that critiques the actual processes of social media
- Agree with current narratives and don't post anything that disagrees with current group trends or with 'official views' on world events, news, mainstream scientific theories or health advice.
- Post regularly of yourself in real life - as much live footage as possible - you must constantly desensitize yourself to the culture of self-surveillance
- Post pictures of people and you with people, tag people - get used to constantly invading other people's lives and your private life with a camera which broadcasts every possible moment online
- You must engage in various forms of real life community in which you must have all the official apps installed on your phone and constantly accessing the internet in the background (allowing them to access all your phone's data and contacts and to access your real-time location - your data is valuable!)
- Be physically around other facebook dependent people with your phones together - develop networks dependent on online platforms.
- Remain authentic at all times - your data is only valuable if you treat social media like a valid extension of your identity.
- Keep yourself under the perception that a private profile and posting privately is actually private - meaning, make sure you believe that your private life is kept safe by facebook and other social medias that allow you to create 'inner circles' or only post for friends etc.
- Don't post things with links to outside the platforms - they automatically get given less exposure because the aim of the platform and the designing of the news feeds algorithm is specifically catered to keep you on this platform for as long as possible - just like a pokie machine - you'll get super relevant content post (according the algorithm data collected on your already) that you really want to see (a small dopamine prize) at the top of your news feeds to rope you in and once you are pressing that pokie machine button fast enough (scrolling faster and faster) - the wins will subside and you will be drawn in to continue and continue in hope of seeing more specifically relevant content you wish you see (a win).
- Lose the idea that you are in control and just engage subconsciously with the platforms so that all user generated data including watch times of specific text/video/photos is collected in order to better cater your personal algorithm to you.
- Reference your posts with other popular users already following all the rules inline with accepted thought to encourage a platform culture of conformity to the invisible algorithm hierarchy social credit system without actually labelling it that. Adhere to the hierarchy - NEVER define it - in other words RESIST defining this hierarchy and just suck people's arse that get a lot of attention.
- Create content that is engaging that encourages people to stay on the platform.
- Stay up to date with posting trends and updates in the platforms media and formats to get on top of algorithm values as it is handed out by Father Christmas Zuckerberg.
- Pay for advertising - if you don't and you have a product that makes money through a page - you will get very little exposure or none at all on a Page unless your content encourages larger session times (total times spent within a period of time by a user at a given moment on the platform) which pushes more traffic into the platform.
- Spend your quality time engaging on the platforms, meticulously going through posts that are presented to you, sharing things, leaving meaningful comments and encouraging online collaboration on the platform and discussion - you cannot have a long-stick approach to it - if you want exposure you MUST also engage with it and use it regularly in order to maintain your algorithm value. This is not a choice.
- Do anything that causes people to get on the platform and stay on it.
- Use all associated apps - eg. Messenger - which then has access to all your private messaging history = more data and able to tailor a more relevant and effective algorithm for your feed and your social groups' feeds.
Of course there are many other things but this is a good start.
As it turns out - despite my best efforts to assimilate for a purpose - to promote conscious intent in life and ideas of self-responsibility - I am not willing to engage in the way that this media requires me to in order to be accepted and promoted and embraced by these platforms. So I must just settle for the amount of exposure that I get unless I commit to deliberately investing time as an 'authentic user' on the platform.
I have made various forms of content over many years (of varying levels of quality) for many different groups - and the recent focus on myself and my image has come from a strong desire to be independent - considering that this is how it is done, so I must just go ahead and do it. It was a conscious choice to do advertise like this based on a logical assessment.
I hope for you that on your own terms you do your own research and give it a good go as well. I have learned the internet is very much controlled. This realisation is nothing new but now I really get it. It simply isn't possible to 'hack' the system. It is a domain that offers free will in name only, under condition you assimilate and conform by default - and if you do not conform consciously and yet you access and use the platforms your awareness will be directed to conform.
This is how conditioning works - through repetition. Remember TV and ads and product placements? Same thing - on steroids.
It gets to a point where there are things that you are willing to do and things that you are not willing to do. There are things that you agree with and there are things that you do not agree with. This subtle pushing of the envelope (your value system) via perceived peer pressure using specific algorithms in content that is shown to you is a key driver in girding all individuals into a cohesive and controlled whole - a globalized society.
We are not in the 2000s anymore - when social media was first developed and news feeds were honest.
We must remember that the big wide world out there is such a beautiful place. We must remember that witch hunts back in their day were driven by group mind mentality - when people had shared emotional hurt which the wolf within the group has little control but to dominate vulnerability - directed to a scapegoat/tall-poppy/disagree-er to feed - social media is mind control.
Study group psychology. Pick up a text book and really understand it. So few people really get it. There are many intellectuals that claim this or that yet forget to shake their foundations and look at what makes them tick.
Covid was a big test for many people - we saw the group sacrifice everything and behave as a cohesive whole willing to endorse a government that arrested lone people on beaches. This group mind cohesion continues - new group traumas will be introduced and will take precedence and social media will protect you all from the dangers of being outside the cage of your fears being used as bars around you.
Let us work towards an open and vulnerable, free reality where we turn off these devices and these internets and live life with real people in the real world. Let us accept the risks that come with life.
Humans in groups have so much potential to create good. Let's return to the roots of authenticity and honesty. Let's be real again!

Recognizing the Role of Social Media
A reply to a friend for the same post on Facebook:
So there is a reason why I post articles this way and not by using my blogs [I post a picture with a large body of text and no links] - eg. peakd.com/@montycashmusic or my new blog on Substack - because this is the only way they get exposure on people's feeds. I also need to post it on my personal page and not the 'Page' page first. If I do that I get just as little exposure. Facebook even soft-censors youtube links as it favours its own video platform - this is not a conspiracy - look it up and you'll find that good social media strategy is to post to Facebook independently of other platforms.
Youtube is its own kettle of fish and is linked directly with the commerce side of using google advertising - and also has its very specific algorithm which limits or allows different content according to various factors.
To give you an idea - I just posted yesterday this video link for a talk by Ross Daly on youtube - I have apparently 3.8k followers on my facebook when I go to analytics for my page which I first posted it on my personal page and then shared to my Page page - it has been shown within 24hours to exactly 2 people. That means 2 / 3800. This number may increase to 30 over a week.
However look directly at posts I have paid for advertising for example 35 dollars on Eye of the Tiger video reel which was jointly posted on instagram - has a reach of almost 8,000.
Most posts remain within the region of 25-200 impressions for 3800 followers without any specific promotions paid for.
On top of this, algorithm deliberately limits posts that push an ideology except for that which may be trending. This then puts you in a kind of soft-censored facebook jail in which your algorithm reach decreased rapidly for a few days and then may build back up over time.
This is censorship.
If you want to control a natrion via social media do the following:
Spend a large portion of advertising and media in removing the value and moral systems within society not directly dictated by government.
Promote Narcissism as a culture.
Promote attention as necessary for the gaining and maintaining of business for the purpose of making a living.
Provide a 'Social Media' which everyone has access to - allow it free reign for a few years - observe, go through a period of observation - collect data on individuals and on their naturally formed networks.
Generate enough group trust in the platform to the point that every new generation is conditioned to believe it is honest and reliable - in the long-run once that is established it is very hard to pull down its reputation no matter what level of censorship - however, certain empathies with trends must be adhered to in order to remain as relevant as possible for as long as possible.
Introduce subtly manipulated newfeeds according to an agenda. For example, 20 percent less exposure for a post about GM foods - so it would appear overall and very subtly that those posts are less popular. While the majority of the people on the platform trust that the platform is genuinely presenting the views of the people - they simply go along with it and count numbers of likes and comments as meaning this is actually popular consensus.
Now that the people have been trained to generate media according to attention value with attention as the highest commodity and their value sets have been eroded - they will create all media on all things - there will always be someone pushing the envelope in every direction because they have no values and are solely focused on attention.
Use the natural expression of the people trained to attention as the highest value as a palette to capitalize and provide higher algorithm value for perspectives that the platform operators wish to promote according to whatever agenda.
Downplay any opposing viewpoint - provide smaller algorithm value and make sure to segregate networks according to contact and ideology which then gives everyone the impression they are being heard and their posts are appearing on people's feeds and yet - through subtle manipulation and alteration of feeds and content and suggestions and advertising - the group mind and its general location and direction can be effectively steered and moved wherever the operators of the platform wish.
When we turn off our phones and decide that this world here online means nothing - we remove that power.
We must allow ourselves the space to do just that in any moment to remember the body we are in, the air we are breathing and to live in the real world.
Group psychology is a big thing and I have observed it over many years in many different countries living on the streets as I have. There is very little within the group that is individually conscious. It takes a large amount of responsibility to be conscious or sentient.
We live within a system of indoctrinated 'individuality'. A belief system called 'individuality' and not individuality itself.
It is my view individuality does exist and it can serve the all and we can walk together, retaining the value in ourselves - yet we must purify this definition so it means something again.
Our words, our intentions, our thoughts, our actions, our expressions - they all hold power. We must give these things back to ourselves again.
Good luck!
